I recently gave a talk on Outsmarting Google®, inspired by a new book by Evan Bailyn. One of the top 5 recommendations for getting your web site to rank high on Google is to build Google’s trust (called TrustRank) with links.

Links - are the currency of Google

Internal - Create links in your web site with navigation and text links to internal pages.

Outbound - Create links to resources, references, memberships and associations.

Inbound - Make sure directories, memberships, articles, and other online media link to your website.

Reciprocal - Build link exchange with well-established and trusted web sites. Examples are LinkedIN, your YouTube-Video, Social Media pages, non-competitive industries, friends and family that can represent you well.

The Fountain Girl used a free ‘instant page’ to launch her site for water fountains this week. I

Guitar instructor Scott Warren gets hired and his band debuts at Soundwave since launching two web sites.

New client, BKF Law Firm, reserved domain names that highlight their specialties. Here are a few of the winners: RealEstateLawSanDiego.com, TaxAttorneySD.com, FamilyLawSanDiego.info, DivorceAttorneySD.com, BKFAttorneys.com. I will be charting their accent to the top!

Two distinctly different wellness resources launched their web sites:San Diego Wellness Source and The Sweetest OM. Both manage and maintain their sites through GoWestDesign.

Aztec Signal and Konecki Insurance Brokerage have the largest number of top-level domains (TLD). Both have registered domains specific to the lines they carry. Aztec sources various types of sensors and recently registered one as: DensitySensors.com. Konecki insures clients on everything from weddings to wine. They struck gold by reserving the domain SanDiegoInsurance.com

My intention is too help you take advantage of technology and advancements easily. “Winning on the Web” is about how domain names can bring more revenue to your business.

What is a TLD?. A TLD stands for Top Level Domain.

Why do you need more than one?

Domain names help people find you
Domain names can drive traffic to your website
Protect your brand and online identity
Promote the different products and services you offer
Domain names are cheap

What would be a great TLD for you? Start with how people search for you. What keywords do they use?

Do a SMART search:

Go to GO WEST DESIGN Special Bulk Pricing
Type in your keyword or phrase
Check mark your search on the right for: .com, .net, org, .info, .us, .biz, .co, and .me

Results: The domains that are taken and the domains that are available will display. Just by doing this search you will be able to grab great domains and ‘point’ them to your website.

How it works: I own domain names that place me #1 on Google. Quite a few are not dot com and they all ‘point’ to my web sites. For example:

DomainsSanDiego.info (I was able to get .me, .net, .org as well)
HostingSantaFe.com (and all it’s variations)
SanDiegoWeb.biz

My Clients Own: Great domain names that get them found. Example: Dr. Ross owns: ChiropractorPacificBeach92109.com she also owns:NeckPainDoctorSanDiego.com and others.

How about names difficult to spell? Virginia Ruehrwein tutors kids. Her name is a challenge so she secured: TotalStudentSuccess.com, GetTheKidIntoCollege.com and others.

Clients who have recently built their own site and manage it themselves: SANDIEGOBIGART.COM and GUITARINSTRUCTOR.ME
